As of 6 April 2025, the "res-non-dom" regime in the United Kingdom will end, and with it the concept of domicile and the complex "remittance based" rules.
In their place, a new special tax regime is being introduced for a maximum of four years of tax residence in the United Kingdom for individuals who have not been tax residents there in the previous ten years.
